How does Weight Loss Calculator work?
The weight loss calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation to determine your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). So BMR is basially the number of calories your body needs to perform basic bodily functions, like breathing and digestion. It then adjusts this rate based on your activity level to find the total number of calories you burn each day.
Your weight loss goals are then factored in, and the calculator estimates the number of calories you should consume each day to achieve your weight loss goals in your desired timeframe. Do remember that a healthy weight loss rate is generally considered to be 0.5-1 kilogram (1-2 pounds) per week.
Here's the basic formula:
- Men: BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age in years) + 5
- Women: BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age in years) - 161
It is always recommended to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any diet or exercise program. This calculator should be use for informational purposes only, and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. For better understaning do book appoinments with your doctor.
